INDIA, February 19, 2026 — Google CEO Sundar Pichai said AI is the technology that makes him dream bigger, calling it the biggest platform shift of his lifetime in remarks delivered Thursday at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, India. 

Pichai tied the message to new infrastructure plans, saying Google is establishing a full-stack AI hub in Visakhapatnam, India, as part of a $15 billion infrastructure investment. He said the project will include large scale compute and a new international subsea cable gateway intended to bring jobs and AI benefits to people and businesses across the country.

On Science and Discovery Spotlight

Pichi highlighted scientific use cases, pointing to Google DeepMind AlphaFold and describing it as a breakthrough that compressed decades of research into a database open to the world. “Today, over three million researchers in more than 190 countries are using it to develop malaria vaccines, fight antibiotic resistance, and much more,” Pichai shared.

Closing the connectivity gap

On responsible adoption, Pichai warned that the digital divide should not become an AI divide. “Technology brings incredible benefits, but we must ensure everyone has access to them,” he said. 

According to him, it requires investment in compute infrastructure and connectivity to disallow digital divide from becoming an AI divide. 

On Workforce impact and training

“AI will undeniably reshape the workforce,” Pichai remarked. By automating some roles, evolving others and creating new careers, he framed training as ‘crucial.’ He said Google has trained 100 million people in digital skills and said a new Google AI. Professional Certificate will be available globally to help people use AI at work.

Pichai urged governments to act as regulators and innovators. Arguing that shared rules and public sector adoption will influence how widely AI benefits are realized.
