SAN FRANCISCO — Salesforce on April 1 announced more than 30 new Slackbot capabilities aimed at solving a growing problem in enterprise artificial intelligence: disconnected tools that fail to turn insights into action, April 1, 2026.

The update expands Slack into what Salesforce calls a central interface for the “agentic enterprise,” where AI agents, business applications and employees operate within a shared environment.

“Slack is the operating system for work,” said Parker Harris, co-founder and chief technology officer of Salesforce. “With Slackbot, every employee now has a super-intelligent teammate … accelerating execution across the enterprise.”

Disconnected agents drag productivity

Companies are rapidly deploying AI agents across departments, but those systems often operate in isolation. Employees must switch between platforms, context is lost and expected productivity gains fail to materialize.

Despite increased investment, many organizations struggle to connect insights with execution. Work continues across meetings, messages and multiple applications, while AI tools operate in silos.

That fragmentation creates what Salesforce describes as a “shared intelligence” gap — where information fails to reach the right people at the right time with enough context to act.

Rob Seaman, executive vice president and general manager of Slack, said the goal is to eliminate that complexity.

“I shouldn’t have to know which agent’s a specialist in which task,” Seaman said. “You should be able to turn to almost a concierge personal agent.”

Slackbot as central AI interface

Salesforce is positioning Slackbot as the system that connects those tools.

New features embed AI directly into workflows, allowing Slackbot to transcribe meetings, summarize decisions and capture action items, then update systems such as customer relationship management platforms without manual input.

Slackbot now also operates across desktop applications, enabling users to select content and prompt the AI to summarize, analyze or act on it while retaining organizational context, including prior conversations and permissions.

Reusable “AI skills” allow teams to define workflows once and apply them automatically. Slackbot can recognize when a task matches a predefined process and execute it without prompting.

The platform also connects to Salesforce’s Agentforce system and third-party applications, routing tasks to the appropriate tool or AI agent. Additional features include voice input, shareable prompts and adaptive memory that learns user preferences over time.

Salesforce said Slackbot also includes built-in customer management tools for small businesses and expanded capabilities within its Customer 360 platform.

Promising results

Salesforce said Slackbot adoption has surged within two months, with customers including Anthropic and Wayfair reporting time savings of up to 90 minutes per employee per day.

Inside Salesforce, teams are saving up to 20 hours per week, generating more than $6.4 million in productivity value, the company said. It also reported 55,000 weekly active users and 87% week-over-week retention since its internal rollout began in January.

Engine, a travel and spend management platform, built an AI agent using Slackbot in 12 days that now resolves more than half of travel-related customer cases without human intervention.

Elia Wallen, founder and CEO of Engine, said context is key.

“Context is where the hundred IQ points are,” Wallen said. “You have all the context, you can answer anything.”

Other companies, including reMarkable, use Slackbot to retrieve information across conversations and documents in real time.

A broader shift in enterprise AI

The expansion reflects a broader shift in enterprise software, as companies move from standalone AI tools toward integrated systems embedded in daily work.

Salesforce is betting adoption will grow if AI operates inside platforms employees already use.

By positioning Slackbot as a central interface for agents, applications and data, the company aims to reduce friction and make AI more actionable across organizations.
