Women lead workforce upskilling as BPO adopts AI

MANILA, Philippines — As Women’s Month highlights women’s growing role in the workplace, women at TELUS Digital Philippines are helping lead digital upskilling efforts in the business process outsourcing industry as artificial intelligence and automation reshape customer experience operations, March 27.

Women make up 54% of the company’s workforce and hold 50% of managerial-to-executive positions, with gender parity at the executive level and a female majority at the director level, according to company data.

The company said women also accounted for 58% of participants in TELUS Digital University in 2025, rising to 59% as of February 2026. Female learners posted a 243% repeat enrollment rate in 2025, with many completing two to three courses within a year.

The figures underscore how women are not only participating in the BPO sector’s digital transformation but also helping shape its direction through leadership and continuous learning.

“While technology is transforming industry operations, people remain at the center of the change through empathetic support and personalized strategies,” Anne Muñoz, country vice president of TELUS Digital Philippines, said.

Muñoz said the company is continuing to invest in learning and development as new technologies reshape workplace demands.

“As new technologies reshape the workplace, we’re committed to staying at the forefront by providing our team members with access to continuous learning and development opportunities,” she said.

TELUS Digital Philippines said its training programs are organized into three tracks: customer mastery, people management and analytical capability. The most in-demand skills are communication, leadership, data analytics and AI fundamentals.

The company said the programs are designed to support career growth and promotion readiness as employees prepare for more technology-driven roles.

Through Connections, the company’s women’s network, TELUS Digital Philippines partnered with the University of Asia and the Pacific Continuing Real-World Education program to help women build executive presence and professional confidence.

Muñoz said giving women access to development and leadership opportunities allows them to grow alongside workplace changes while strengthening the company’s leadership pipeline.

She added that investing in women leaders brings broader perspectives to decision-making and supports long-term business growth.
